At the most recent Synod convention, delegates from across the country united behind establishing a permanent Lutheran outreach and educational presence in the birthplace of the Reformation: the city of Wittenberg, Germany.
Our convention’s delegates then encouraged a special appeal to all LCMS congregations and households, so that everyone has a chance to be a part of shaping history. As Lutherans, we’ve done it before. As Lutherans, we’ll do it again, with the help of God.
In early March, this special appeal to help fund the outreach center’s renovation was mailed to LCMS congregations and households. The center will be dedicated on May 3. This is a unique moment, but your participation can be planned and sent at a time convenient for you. Ask your pastor or congregational leaders how you can connect to this outreach, with its 500-year focus.

The town’s official name is Lutherstadt-Wittenberg, and this is definitely Martin Luther Central! Everywhere you turn, there’s a spot associated with Martin Luther’s life. The shops carry everything you could imagine associated with their most famous resident: books, posters, mugs, statues…even Martin Luther socks
