Matching Gift Opportunities
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod • Mission Advancement
Global Mission Fund
Dec. 1, 2023 — The window of opportunity on the $50,000 match for new and returning donors closed on Nov. 30. We are so thankful for all who responded with joy and generosity to this opportunity by giving their first gift, or a new gift after a 36-month hiatus. Your gracious support and the matching funds from our generous partner are already helping to proclaim Christ crucified and risen for sinners to all corners of the world.
Global Seminary Initiative: Scholarships
October 11, 2023 update — The LCMS along with Concordia Seminary St. Louis and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne are pleased to announce we have matched $175,000 for international student scholarships. In total, $350,000 will be designated in scholarships to qualified candidates across 35-plus partner church bodies to attend our world-class seminaries. Thank you for joyfully responding to this effort and we look forward to seeing how God continues to bless this initiative!
2023–2026 National Offering
May 25, 2023 — The $50,000 maximum for this special, momentum-building gift match has been reached. Soli Deo Gloria! LCMS leadership thanks everyone who has so graciously responded to this opportunity thus far, an effort to reach individuals from non-English speaking cultures every day by sharing the life-giving Gospel message across cultural and language lines through the translation of carefully selected Lutheran outreach resources into languages other than English.
Connected to the theme of the convention, this triennium’s National Offering — “We Preach Christ Crucified for All People” — will focus on translating introductory Christian resources into as many as five major languages. Congregations, schools, and other groups will be able to utilize these evangelism, educational, and catechetical resources — resources YOU have made possible — to help non-English speakers clearly hear and read the Good News.
(Note: The LCMS does not intend to duplicate, replace, or compete with the vital translation work of other Lutheran agencies such as Lutheran Heritage Foundation, Lutheran Bible Translators, or Concordia Publishing House.)
