National offering reaches $409,157

HOUSTON – Bolstered by gifts brought to its 63rd Regular Convention, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s 2007 National Offering has reached $409,157.

“Preparing Pastors Worldwide” is the theme for the offering, and organizers are hoping to raise at least $1 million to fund the training of Lutheran pastors in the United States and abroad. The offering was initiated in late May and continues through the next LCMS convention in 2010.

Contributions are being received during the July 14-19 convention here or may be made online at www.givenowlcms.org

Two-thirds of the gifts support the Synod’s two seminaries – Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. The remaining one-third will benefit seminaries of LCMS partner churches around the world.
