CPH anxious to serve, says Kintz

HOUSTON—”Listening, Responding and Providing” is “more than just a slogan” at Concordia Publishing House, President and CEO Dr. Bruce G. Kintz told delegates and guests at the 64th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod today.

In his greetings to the convention, Kintz said he and the publisher’s 250 employees are “dedicated to your service,” and he invited customers to visit the CPH website (www.cph.org) and click on his photo “if you ever need me.”  That click activates a call to Kintz’s cell phone, he said, and he is accessible “24/7.”

Kintz said CPH is working hard to “stay on the cutting edge … not the bleeding edge,” and now offers more than 100 Kindle book titles, as well as the publisher’s first “application” for iPhone and iPad, called “PrayNow.”

CPH offers products and services in 16 different areas, Kintz said, but only “about half of them make money to fund the other half.” He asked those who use CPH’s vacation Bible school materials to “let us know” if improvements can be made.

“We’re having a decent year this year, but CPH has also been affected by some of the economic conditions going on,” he said.

The convention is meeting July 10-17 under the theme “ONE People—Forgiven.”  Among the approximately 3,000 participants are some 1,200 clergy and lay voting delegates.
