The Rev. Craig J. Donofrio, formerly of Pasadena, Calif., was installed Nov. 11 as assistant director of Broadcast Services for KFUO Radio at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis.
In the position, Donofrio will assist in developing and directing programming at KFUO, the Synod’s broadcast ministry. He also will produce and host several programs.
LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison performed Donofrio’s rite of installation, preaching on Rom. 10:5-17.
“At the end of the text it says faith comes by hearing,” Harrison said. “How will that be unless they are sent?
“You are sent here so that on this little radio station … the Gospel will be made clear, very clear.”
Donofrio said he was “happy to be here.”
He said by joining KFUO, he was was coming full circle since he first started working at the station while attending Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
“We’re anticipating great things,” Donofrio said, “spreading the Gospel first and foremost.”
Donofrio has about 20 years of broadcast experience.
Since 2008, he has co-hosted “The God Whisperers,” an Internet radio podcast with a large international following. He also served as station manager for Pirate Christian Radio in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., from 2008-10, playing a key role in starting and equipping the Internet station, including developing programming, producing content and setting standards.
In addition to his radio work, Donofrio served as pastor at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Pasadena, Calif. (2004-13); Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Mo. (2002-04); Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in New London, Conn. (1998-2002); and Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashaway, R.I. (1999-2002).
Donofrio holds a master’s degree from Concordia Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Christ College (now Concordia University) in Irvine, Calif.
Donofrio and his wife, Paula, live in St. Charles, Mo.
