The Oct. 12 registration deadline for the Beautiful Feet Mission Conference — a gathering for mission-minded college students — is fast approaching. Hosting this year’s conference Nov. 12-14 will be Concordia University, Nebraska, in Seward, Neb.
The conference, which takes its name from Isaiah 52:7 (How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation), aims to connect college students with opportunities to serve people and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their communities and around the world. It is planned by college students, for college students, and it is held each year on a different college campus within the Synod’s Concordia University System.
+ Rev. Dr. John Mehl, director of Mission Partnerships and Church Relations at Concordia, Nebraska, who also teaches classes in missiology and “crossing cultures.” Mehl is a former LCMS missionary to Russia and served as the Synod’s regional director for Asia and the Pacific.
+ Rev. Greg Bearss, church planter and founder of LakePointe Church in Hot Springs, Ark.
+ Dani Tietjen, an author and speaker who shares “her heart for love, service, relationships and expectations.”
+ Rev. Lonnie “Jake” Jacobsen, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Neb.
+ Rev. Bill Steinbauer, campus pastor at University Lutheran Chapel in Lincoln, Neb.
+ Matt Wasmund, strategic volunteer coordinator in East Asia for the LCMS.
Also offered will be opportunities to serve the community, small-group discussions about God’s mission and more than 30 breakout sessions on topics such as “Help Wanted: People of All Abilities,” “Jesus to Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” “World Mission Travelers — When Helping Can Hurt,” “Where Will You Serve?,” “Women on the Mission Field,” “Life Issues as a Mission Field,” “Everyday Missionaries,” “Community Outreach in Small Towns and Rural Areas” and “Getting to Know Your Community.”
Remedy Drive, an alternative rock band founded in 1998 in Lincoln, Neb., will perform for conference-goers and the campus community at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 13.
Registration (available online) is $100 for those who need lodging and $30 for those who do not, and includes meals.
