Chief Communications Officer

Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), seeks a chief communications officer to lead the seminary communications team in effectively telling the seminary story to a variety of audiences via print, digital and other media.

Position responsibilities

  • Prepare news releases, social media posts and website updates about CTSFW’s mission, educational programs, events and opportunities.
  • Serve as managing editor for the seminary’s magazine, For the Life of the World and oversee production of all seminary publications.
  • Work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to coordinate appeals and events.
  • Serve as chief liaison for coordinating the seminary’s presence at national and district conventions.
  • Work with the seminary’s technology department to produce information and images for the website.
  • Coordinate information flow between CTSFW and media outlets.
  • Supervise the CTSFW communications team.
  • Professionally interact with vendors, media and all contacts from within and without the seminary community.
  • Manage the communications budget.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the CTSFW Board of Regents and president.

Position qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or related area.
  • At least five years’ experience working in public relations or communications.
  • Working knowledge of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
  • Understanding of Lutheran history, doctrine and practice.
  • Excellent language, writing and editing skills.
  • An understanding of elements of design.
  • Strong management, business and leadership skills.
  • Positive, dependable, self-motivated and capable of managing several projects at once.
  • (Desirable) Experience with Marketing Cloud for email and SMS campaigns.
  • (Desirable) Familiarity with Storybrand-based marketing principles.

Digital Communications Specialist

Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), seeks a digital communications specialist to effectively tell the seminary’s story through a variety of digital media formats and platforms.

Position responsibilities

  • Redesign and maintain the CTSFW primary website, including UI/UX design.
  • Help with design of subsidiary sites (myCTSFW, Admission Portal, ProtectMyMinistry Portal, etc.).
  • Works with the CTSFW communications team to help tell the seminary’s story to a diverse audience.
  • Prepare digital communications in Marketing Cloud for sending.
  • Design audience-focused journeys in Marketing Cloud to maximize the impact of seminary communication.
  • Provide analytic data to assist in assessing the seminary’s communication efforts.
  • Assist with managing the seminary’s social media presence as needed.
  • Help with writing and editing content as needed.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the chief communications officer.

Position qualifications

  • At least five years of experience in web development or design.
  • Strong HTML5/Javascript/CSS skills.
  • Familiarity with WordPress templating or PHP.
  • Good written communications skills with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Ability to sit or stand at a computer for up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • (Desirable) Experience with Marketing Cloud for email and SMS campaigns.
  • (Desirable) Familiarity with Storybrand based marketing principles.
