Paul Maier writes sequel to his 1994 bestseller

Dr. Paul L. Maier, Synod fourth vice president and professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University, is author of a new book, More than a Skeleton.

The new 352-page hardcover volume, a sequel to his 1994 bestselling novel, A Skeleton in God’s Closet, is published by Thomas Nelson, Inc.

Both novels have Harvard professor Jonathan Weber, a Missouri Synod Lutheran, as their central character.  In More Than a Skeleton, Weber shuttles between America and Israel as he deals with a character believed by many to be the returned Christ, along with the resulting issues.

Christianity and Lutheranism are prominent in the new volume, which is thought to be the first novel to take on the millennialist theology of the Left Behind series.

A Skeleton in God’s Closet, now  in its 20th printing, became the #1 national bestseller in religious fiction shortly after it was published.

Maier is the author of numerous other scholarly and popular books, some translated into a dozen languages.
