Clarification

All members of the Synod’s Board of Directors were aware that the Board had decided during the afternoon session to resume their meeting with a previously unscheduled evening session Nov. 21.  It was at that evening session that the Board adopted two resolutions declaring eight opinions of the Commission on Constitutional Matters to be “of no effect,” as reported in the December issue of Reporter.

Some readers apparently have gotten the mistaken impression from Reporter’s article about the Board’s action that the evening session was held without the knowledge of Synod President Gerald Kieschnick or First Vice President Daniel Preus.  Such an impression was not intended.  Both men were aware of the evening session, but did not attend due to previous commitments with the LCEF Fall Leadership Conference, which convened that same evening.
