`Luther` film available Nov. 30 on DVD, VHS

“Luther,” the motion picture about the life and times of Martin Luther that premiered in theaters last fall, will be available for purchase Nov. 30 in DVD and VHS formats.

The film is being released by Metro Goldwyn Mayer on the MGM Home Entertainment label.  It will be available initially through large retailers such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Wal-Mart and Target.

“Luther,” which received financial backing and production assistance from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, is expected to be available on DVD and VHS for about $20.

The “Luther” DVD features interviews with the film’s cast, including Joseph Fiennes, Alfred Molina and Peter Ustinov, and includes the original theatrical “trailer.”

“Thrivent Financial is proud to have made possible this entertaining motion picture for Lutherans to share with their families and the world,” said Dennis Clauss, a corporate project leader with Thrivent who served as the film’s executive producer.  “‘Luther’ is a rich celebration of our Lutheran heritage and a timeless witness to the importance of Christian values and beliefs.”
