Registration is now open for the next Mission Planters Institute, to be held July 25-30 at Concordia University, Irvine, Calif. The institute is sponsored twice a year — in February and July — by the Irvine-based Center for U.S. Missions to train church planters.
In the weeklong institute, church planters are “prepared in the basics of a mission plant, affirmed in their role as a planter, connected to a coach and helped to create a mission initiation plan,” according to the center.
Planters are required to attend the institute with a “coach,” and married planters are encouraged to bring their spouses. Non-ordained planters also are welcome.
Planters, spouses and coaches take part in sessions on a variety of topics, including identifying and developing leaders, building ministry and prayer teams, using evangelism and assimilation strategies, developing a market plan, managing time and using technology in mission work.
Participants from LCMS districts that are in partnership with the Center for U.S. Missions may register for $100 (includes room and board) before the June 14 deadline. After that date, the cost of registration is $300 per person.
Those from districts not in partnership with the center would pay the full cost of $1,200 per person.
