New Preus book explains `Why I Am a Lutheran`

Why I Am a Lutheran: Jesus at the Center, written by Synod First Vice President Daniel Preus, is now available from Concordia Publishing House.

Rather than provide an exposition of the Christian Church and Lutheran teachings, Preus wrote the book, he says, to “demonstrate what is always and only at the center of all Christian teaching — Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

In the book, Preus addresses topics such as sin and grace, Law and Gospel, the person and work of Jesus Christ, worship, the sacraments, and the office of the ministry.  Luther’s Small Catechism is included in an appendix as a reference for readers who seek “a concise, biblical and ageless explanation of the basic truths of Christianity,” Preus writes in the book’s Preface.

“Members encounter the question many times in life: ‘Why are you Lutheran?,'” notes CPH’s “eNews for Churches” newsletter.  “Help equip them to answer and to better understand the doctrine of their faith with Why I Am a Lutheran: Jesus at the Center.”  The newsletter calls the book “an excellent resource for new members as well.”

Single copies of the 224-page hardback book are available from CPH for $14.99, plus shipping.  Those who order 24 copies or more pay only $10 per copy and receive free shipping through Dec. 31.
