The Synod’s Commission on Ministerial Growth and Support (CMGS) is reissuing a call for nominations for an executive director.
 
The executive director reports to the commission and to the Synod president, and is responsible for providing principal leadership in promoting the vocational development and continuing education of our church’s workers and the well-being of our church’s workers and their family members. 
 
Duties include promoting and providing tools to help congregations be sensitive to and provide for the vocational development, continuing education, and health and well-being of the church’s workers and their families; facilitating positive personal relation-ships, family interactions and healthy lifestyle behaviors; supporting church workers by creating and administrating continuing-education initiatives such as the Post-Seminary Applied Learning and Support (PALS), the Coaching Principals and Welcoming New Teachers; and serving as an advocate for church workers through various writings. 
 
A nominee must be an active member of an LCMS congregation; be faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions; be supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws and policies; have experience in counseling, education, health management or promotion, or a related discipline; be a rostered church worker of the Synod with demonstrated understanding of and commitment to wholistic wellness and vocational development; and have proven competence in administration and leadership.

Concordia University, River Forest, Ill., invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in sociology, beginning with the 2005-06 academic year.  Although the successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of undergraduate sociology courses, specific needs are projected to be in the areas of social inequality, socialization processes, and sociology of religion.
 
Qualifications include prior teaching experience at the college/university level, a commitment to teaching excellence, and a master’s degree or higher with preference for the terminal degree (Ph.D. in sociology or a related field).

Concordia University College of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, invites applications or nominations for a permanent-stream position at the assistant professor level to begin Aug. 1, subject to budgetary approval.  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; Ph.D. or Th.D. required.  Preference will be given to applicants with an enthusiasm for teaching and an interest in teaching introductory courses in the Christian faith and biblical theolgy.  The position requires specialization in New Testament studies or in Old Testament studies, with qualifications in the field of theology being desirable.  Concordia may also be in a position to make a second appointment in the 2006 academic year.

Concordia University, Seward, Neb., seeks to fill the following positions:
