Concordia University, River Forest, Ill., is seeking two full-time visiting assistant/associate professors of educational administration and/or research to teach leadership or research courses in the MA School Leadership program and the doctoral leadership program.
 
Professors are expected to have excellence in teaching, research and service to the profession.  These two-year positions are a result of program growth and begin Jan. 1, 2005, with hiring to continue until positions are filled.
 
Qualifications include a doctorate in research, school leadership or in an aligned field, the commitment to academic research and a commitment to Lutheran education and values congruent with The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.

Concordia University, Portland, Ore., seeks nominations and applications for a theology faculty position, beginning January 2005.
 
Primary responsibilities include teaching various courses in theology as part of the general education and theology major requirements.  This position will preferably also have special responsibility for courses in the area of historical theology.  The faculty member may also have faculty committee responsibilities.
 
This position requires that the faculty member be an ordained pastor of good standing in the LCMS.  A degree in theology beyond the M.Div. is preferred, with a Ph.D. degree desirable.  Successful college- or university-level teaching experience also is preferred.

The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod Extension Fund seeks a vice president for Capital Funding Services.
           
Capital Funding Services (CFS) provides consultation to help individual LCMS congregations and agencies identify and fund their capital needs and/or expand their local and global mission.  This includes raising capital for building improvements, enhancing congregational stewardship and/or debt retirement.  The person in this position will report to the senior vice president, ministry services. 
 
The vice president will be responsible for:

  • presenting the ministry of CFS to districts, congregations and other entities of the LCMS.
  • ensuring that all programs, materials and activities of CFS rest on proper theology and stewardship motivation.
  • designing, implementing and updating the program based on input and evaluations from congregations, districts, LCEF management, the Department of Stewardship of LCMS, Inc., and other entities as appropriate.
  • short- and long-term plans that detail and prioritize annual CFS goals and budget requirements.
  • initiating contacts and relationship building with district leaders, pastors and lay leaders of congregations.
  • overall responsibility for the supervision, orientation, training, professional growth and effectiveness of CFS staff.
  • conducting promotional events, serving on various synodical, pan-Lutheran and pan-Christian committees/organizations, and representing CFS at synodical and district conventions, circuit meetings, etc.

Qualifications:  An active member of an LCMS congregation; a visionary; a self-starter; skilled in verbal and written presentations; willing to travel extensively as needed; a team builder and team member.   Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in one or more of the following areas: development, management, marketing, theology, communications and/or journalism.  Experience with large-scale organizations, management and short- and long-term planning is a definite plus.  Must be a pro-active leader and manager.
