Call for nominations: Director of Mission Networking

The Board for Black Ministry Services plans, coordinates, and expands the activities in Black Ministry with the various judicatories of the Synod, including districts and local congregations.  In addition, by special assignment of the Board of Directors, it recruits Black students for the professional ministries of the church.  This position reports to the executive director of the Board for Black Ministry Services.

The director of Mission Networking will be responsible for discovering the mission-related needs, strengths, and resources that are present in each district.  The director will assist the districts in developing district mission sites, mission statements, goals, and objectives that reflect the mission urgency and thrust of the Great Commission.  The director will be a resource and partner with the Mission Board and districts in Black Ministry for the sake of urban ministry, as well as become familiar with mission resources of other denominations that might prove useful for our congregations.  The director will consult regularly with all districts, district staff and boards for Black Ministry to determine the felt needs of congregations and both the human and program resources available from congregations or individuals to meet those needs.  The director will assist in promoting the program of Synod’s ministry to Blacks in judicatories of the Synod at national, district, and local levels in keeping with the bylaws of the Synod.

Nominees must be an active member of a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod congregation; faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions; and supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, bylaws, and policies.  Nominees must be ordained with a minimum of five years parish experience, plus personal experience with various district and church-growth programs, preferably in teaching or leadership roles and have demonstrated skills in administration including planning, training, organizing, coordinating and communicating.

Nominations should be submitted by Sept. 30 to Barbara Ryan, Executive Director of Human Resources, 1333 S. Kirkwood Road, St. Louis, MO 63122; Barbara.Ryan@lcms.org; fax: (314) 996-1121.
