Calls for nominations: congregational services

The Board for District and Congregational Services (DCS) is seeking nominations for executive director.  The executive director establishes a vision, formulates strategies, and implements plans so that DCS ministry areas (children, family, outreach, leadership, school, stewardship, youth), together with districts, assist congregations to develop and foster vibrant ministries that bring the saving, life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ to the sinful, dying world.  The executive director reports directly to and is accountable to the board as its principal staff person.  The executive director administers the DCS team and its services in accordance with the Synod’s objectives and policies set forth in the bylaws, policies of the Board of Directors, resolutions of Synod conventions and policies of the DCS; manages and develops the DCS strategic plan; coordinates the development of the DCS operational plans and provides for integrated and balanced resources to address those plans; makes policy recommendations to the board and maintains those policies; supervises the ministry areas in accordance with policy and develops and administers in cooperation with ministry directors, the annual budget, including staffing levels and provides financial reporting systems as required to keep the board informed; assists board and staff in securing designated funding and fraternal grants; prepares agenda and related materials for the board and for staff meetings; communicates regularly with staff and assures the integration of ministry areas; supervises staff including providing encouragement and performance feedback; serves as the liaison for DCS with other Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod executives and the officers as appropriate; administers the application and approval process for Recognized Service Organizations; assures through regular communication coordinated efforts with the other synodical agencies such as districts, seminaries, universities, Concordia Publishing House, etc.

Nominees must be an ordained or commissioned member of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, and supportive of the Synod’s constitution, bylaws and policies; possess a minimum of a master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years’ ministry experience and five years as leader of a team ministry; be familiar with the polity, organization of the Synod; have a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Church; have the demonstrated ability to establish a vision, formulate strategy, and implement plans while coordinating persons and groups in a variety of related ministries and services.

The Northern Illinois District, LCMS, seeks nominations for an executive for congregational services to serve the East Region of the district.  The position involves serving as a resource to congregations in identifying and strengthening mission and ministry work, program resource, and assisting congregations in long-range planning (identifying mission vision for the congregation).
 
To be considered, a candidate must be a rostered member of and in good standing with The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, have a strong commitment to Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, demonstrate competence in parish ministry, and have a heart for mission development.
