Both Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod seminaries — Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne — are offering free campus visits to prospective students in March.
The three-day visits are open to men, college age and older, and their wives or girlfriends, to give couples a sample of what seminary life is like. The visits include opportunities to tour the campuses, meet students and professors, take part in worship, attend seminary classes, and hear presentations on academics, financial assistance, housing, and the admissions process.
Wives and girlfriends are encouraged to attend the events, which offer special sessions just for them.
There is no charge to attend either event — included are all meals, lodging, and transportation to and from the airport.
Past participants include those who are just beginning to consider service as a Lutheran pastor, missionary, or chaplain, as well as those who already have applied for seminary admission, according to Rev. Glen Thomas, vice president for seminary relations at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
“Our goal is to provide for our guests as much helpful information as is possible over the course of the event and to answer questions they may have,” Thomas said.
