“Call and Ordination in the Lutheran Church” is the theme for the 10th annual Pieper Lectures, set for Sept. 22-23 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
Sponsors of the lectures are Concordia Historical Institute, which is the Synod’s Department of Archives and History, and the Luther Academy, the St. Louis-based society that “promotes … confessional Lutheran theology and research,” according to its mission statement.
Those attending the lectures must pre-register. Registration is $35 per person. However, the fee will be waived for students and faculty members at Lutheran colleges and seminaries. Meals at the seminary and limited on-campus lodging are available for additional costs.

Scheduled speakers are Dr. Jobst Schine, retired bishop of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Germany; Dr. Cameron A. MacKenzie, professor and chairman of the Department of Historical Theology, Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne; Rev. Rolf Preus, pastor of River Heights Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, Minn.; Dr. Steven D. Paulson, associate professor of Systematic Theology, Lutheran Seminary, St. Paul, Minn.; and Dr. George F. Wollenburg, president of the LCMS Montana District.
