“Living Well in Christ” is the theme for “LutherHostel 2006,” to be held Oct. 7-10 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. LutherHostel is an educational event for adults ages 55 and older.
Dr. Richard Bimler, author, humorist, and past president of Wheat Ridge Ministries, Itasca, Ill., will be the main presenter, speaking on the “Living Well in Christ” theme.
Scheduled activities for LutherHostel 2006 include:
- a reception and dinner with seminary President Dale A. Meyer and his wife, Diane.
- a presentation by Dr. Martin R. Noland, director of Concordia Historical Institute, the Synod’s Department of Archives and History, which is located on the seminary campus.
- a presentation by Marge Schramm, former mayor of Kirkwood, Mo., a St. Louis suburb and home of the Synod’s International Center.
- Bible studies led by Dr. Thomas Egger and Dr. David Lewis, assistant professors of exegetical theology at the seminary.
- seminary student-led evening devotions.
- opportunities for interaction with seminary faculty.
- a private demonstration of the organ in the seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus.
- a tour of Lutheran and St. Louis sites.
Also available is an optional tour of Lutheran historical sites in Perry County, Mo., on Oct. 11.
Registration for LutherHostel 2006 is $310 per person and includes all meals and refreshments during the event. Lodging is available on campus or in nearby hotels and is not included in the registration fee.
