The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) Foundation seeks applications and nominations for the position of vice president for world mission support, made available due to a pending retirement.

The position reports to the senior vice president for ministry resources development and interfaces directly with the executive director of LCMS World Mission.  The position is responsible for creating a master plan for development and supervising all aspects of fundraising for LCMS World Mission (current annual fundraising goal is $15-18 million).  The position supervises the directors of principal gifts, organized gifts and communications, and provides key leadership for Fan Into Flame, a $100 million national campaign for the expansion of mission work.

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree; knowledge of Christian stewardship and the practical application of stewardship principles; six or more years experience in development/fundraising, management, public relations, marketing, or administration; demonstrated ability to plan, organize, execute, and evaluate programs, and make positive recommendations for improvements to the development task; demonstrated ability in setting and achieving income goals; ability to function in a management system that emphasizes results and accountability; demonstrated performance in identifying significant donors and closing gifts of $25,000 – $100,000 or above; self-sufficiency and the ability to function without day-to-day supervision, adaptability to frequent travel; ability to relate to clergy and lay leadership in congregations; and strong oral and written communication skills.  Candidates must be active members of LCMS congregations. NSFRE certification is desired.

Concordia University, River Forest, Ill., seeks to fill the following two positions:

  • Director of academic service learning.  This position reports to the senior vice president for academics of the university and serves as the academic service learning resource to the faculty.  The university seeks an individual who can initiate, manage, and evaluate the service learning activities of the various academic departments and who can coordinate and nurture these activities with the local community.  The director will work closely with the vice president for administration to appropriately manage risk as it relates to students, staff, and faculty engaged in academic student learning activities.  This individual should be able to forge intentional, productive, and efficient networks with staff advisors and student leaders of the university.  The director will teach a section of the freshman seminar and/or the capstone course as assigned.

    The director holds faculty rank and will be assigned as a faculty member to an academic department based on credentials.

    The candidate must have a master’s degree and academic credentials or experience that merit appointment as a tenure track professor; demonstrated effectiveness in organizing, managing, and evaluating programs; a record of effective service in an academic setting; the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team; and experience in community outreach and working with external agencies.

    The candidate should have academic preparation beyond the master’s degree; experience in the academic service learning environment; and a record of effective administrative experience at the university level.

  • Assistant vice president for academics.  This position reports to the senior vice president for academics of the university and will be responsible for coordination of the First Year Experience courses (currently 10 courses per year), including the recommendation of faculty and student mentors, the determination of course materials and activities in consultation with the course instructors, and the regular evaluation of these experiences, and Values and Virtues courses (currently six courses per year), including the recommendation of faculty, the determination of course materials and activities in consultation with the course instructors, and the yearly evaluation of the course.  The position also serves as instructor of one section of Freedom and Responsibility, or one section of Values and Virtues each year; carries a total teaching load of four courses per academic year; coordinates the activities of the AQIP Steering Committee and be the university liaison to the Higher Learning Commission; and assists the vice president in monitoring the academic student learning activities of the university.

    The candidate must have academic credentials or experience that merits appointment as a tenure track professor; demonstrated creativity in the design and delivery of academic programs; experience in the higher education environment; and a record of effective research/scholarship and a commitment to excellence in teaching.

    The candidate should be able to demonstrate experience with program assessment and external accreditation; commitment to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration; and commitment to the principles and practices of shared governance.

Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, Wis., seeks applicants to fill the position of department chair/program director for the Department of Physical Therapy (PT).  Concordia University Wisconsin has both an entry level doctor of physical therapy degree program and a transitional doctor of physical therapy degree program within the school of human services.

The responsibilities include providing vision and leadership for the PT department; directing the activities of the PT department, including budgeting, class scheduling, faculty workloads and other department chair activities; and supervising the work of faculty members in the PT department.  Teaching, service, and scholarship are components of this position.

The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D., board certification in one of the practice areas, program chair, and university teaching experience.  Candidates must be licensed or eligible for license to practice in Wisconsin.

Salary and academic rank will be commensura
