Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill., seeks to fill the position of Initial Certification Program coordinator, a faculty position (rank commensurate with qualification and experience) with expertise in coordinating initial certification programs in the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, Music Education, and the Master of Arts in Teaching.
Responsibilities include teaching a reduced load of undergraduate and graduate courses; maintaining an active program of scholarship, including presentations and publications; and participating in service and community activities. This position requires a supervisory relationship to the Office of Field Experience. The Initial Certification Program coordinator will report directly to the dean of the College of Education. Additional responsibilities include planning and organizing courses and curricular content, recruiting potential teacher candidates, assigning classes to faculty members, and hiring adjunct professors as needed. Experience with the NCATE accreditation process is preferred.
Required qualifications include an earned doctorate or near completion of a doctorate in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field; a solid record of teaching and involvement in P-12 settings; and a commitment to Lutheran education and values congruent with the Lutheran Church.
