Bible study traces stewardship journey

A new Bible study resource is designed to help congregations explore their stewardship practices during their annual financial stewardship programs.

“Journey of Discovery,” based on a travel theme, was produced through a partnership of the LCMS District and Congregational Services Department of Stewardship Ministry, Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF), and Concordia Publishing House.

“The ultimate destination of the ‘Journey of Discovery’ is a deeper spiritual understanding of God’s intentions and a deliberate decision about the financial offering the participant will lay up for the Lord on a regular basis through the church,” said Dave Kuerschner, author of the materials and vice president of LCEF’s Capital Funding Services.  “By taking this stewardship journey of Bible study, discussion, and prayerful thought together, members of a congregation will grow closer to each other and Jesus.”

The five-session study allows participants to voyage through different “gates” of giving and sharing as they seek to answer the question, “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits to me?”  Materials include a leaders guide, 10 student workbooks, a DVD and CD-ROM, promotional posters and bulletin inserts, luggage tags, and “travelers checks.”

The complete kit ($59.99, item no. S00322WEB), may be ordered online at www.cph.org/discovery or by calling 800-325-3040.
