Letters to the Editor (March 2010)

March for Life

I am saddened to read the headline “Record 160-plus Lutherans join Jan. 22 ‘Life’ march” in the February 2010 Reporter.  The article was written as though that number is outstanding, when indeed it is pitiful.  I pray this number doesn’t represent the total of LCMS members at the march, or we as a church body have failed miserably.

In truth, we have failed. Where is the horror of abortion? Where is our passion for life? Where is the anger toward our congressional representatives and judges? Where is the leadership in our Synod [that is] against abortion? A “record 160-plus” out of 300,000-plus marchers is beyond sad; it clearly reflects our apathy toward the value we [as the LCMS] place on God-breathed life.

The march will take place next year on Jan. 24. Plan now to attend or support the arch and its cause as best you can, because euthanasia is surely just around the corner.

See you next year in Washington, DC.!
