Call for Nominations: President — LCMS Foundation (October 2011)

The Board of Trustees of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod Foundation herewith calls for nominations for the position of president of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod Foundation.

The president reports to the Board of Trustees of the Foundation and relates to the officers and presidents or executive directors of the Synod, districts and agencies, especially those defined as partners of the Foundation. He/she serves as the chief executive officer, having general management and supervision of the business of the Foundation. The president undertakes all actions and makes all administrative decisions deemed necessary to attain the desired results in accordance with the Board Policy Manual; establishes, builds and monitors relationships with the Foundation partners; assists the Board in defining and evaluating its desired outcomes and in its decision-making process; provides the necessary reports and counsel to the board for its monitoring needs; provides leadership and supervision to the Foundation staff; and serves as chief investment officer of the LCMS Foundation.

Nominees must have an active membership in an LCMS congregation and be faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions and supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws and policies. He/she should be committed to biblical stewardship principles; have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience in fields related to business management; have 10 years of responsible experience in line and staff leadership positions in corporate or organizational management in the private or public sector; have knowledge or experience in fundraising or development; have the ability to craft a vision of the Foundation’s future for consideration by the board; have knowledge regarding the administrative functions of trusts, investments, property, accounting and marketing and the use of technology in delivering services. He/she must have communication and relationship skills and the ability to deal with diverse groups within the Synod as well as professionals within financial, business and professional communities.
