Official Notice: Call for Nominations — CUS president

The Concordia University System (CUS) Board of Directors is seeking nominations for the position of president, Concordia University System. The president is accountable to the CUS Board of Directors and presents a formal annual report to the Audit Committee of the LCMS Board of Directors. The president administers the programs and operations of the CUS System in accordance with the Bylaws of the Synod and CUS. The president guides the cooperating and coordinating efforts of 10 individual institutional activities and programs in the leadership areas of curriculum, advancement, funds development, finances, Concordia Administrative Information Systems, Concordia University Education Network, For the Sake of the Church, communication, faculty and student exchanges and shared/consolidated services and uniform reporting systems.

The president shall demonstrate visionary and persuasive leadership to ensure a Lutheran core identity among the various colleges and universities within the CUS by articulating the shared vision of the system, while promoting the unique strengths of the individual colleges and universities within the system. By creating and sustaining key and productive relationships between the Synod Board of Directors, the CUS board, individual institutions of higher learning and the public, the president shall provide strong leadership for the Concordia University System.

Nominees must be ordained or commissioned ministers on the roster of the Synod; active, in good standing, members of LCMS congregations; and committed to the Lutheran Confessions and LCMS doctrine. Qualified candidates must have five years of educational administrative and management experience at a significant level; earned doctorate in a recognized field or advanced degree and equivalent experience; and direct experience in budgeting, financial analysis and fiscal management. In addition, nominees must have a demonstrated understanding of operations of an institution of higher learning; proven oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to lead through collaboration and persuasion.
