Plans receives award for CRSP campaign

Concordia Plan Services (CPS) received a first-place “Award of Excellence” from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for work on a 2010 growth campaign for the Concordia Retirement Savings Plan (CRSP).

Founded in 1970, the IABC is a network of some 15,000 business communication professionals in more than 80 countries. The honor to CPS is in the St. Louis IABC chapter’s annual Bronze Quill Awards program, recognizing the best communication efforts from organizations in Missouri and Illinois.  Bronze Quill entries are judged by members of other IABC chapters around the nation.

The awards were announced May 26 at an IABC banquet in St. Louis.

Last year’s CRSP campaign was aimed at church workers in five distinct categories, based on their level of participation in the plan. It involved developing and sending custom postcards to the workers, to increase their awareness of the employer-provided benefit and their level of participation in it; motivate them to learn more about the CRSP; and recognize the need for personal savings for retirement.

The postcards were mailed to workers’ homes in July 2010.

As a result of the campaign, CRSP contribution levels increased in each of the five targeted audience segments (by more than 20 percent in three of those groups), according to a news release from CPS.  “Also, in the 30-day window after the postcards were mailed, five of the top 20 pages visited on the CPS website were in the retirement and CRSP sections.”

Dawn Crosno, manager of communications for CPS, said, “Though Concordia Plan Services is very honored to receive the award, the best recognition comes from plan members who made a change and are now on a better path toward retirement planning and being more prepared for their future.”
