Retreat for retired church workers set for March

The Synod’s Florida-Georgia District is sponsoring a retreat for retired LCMS church workers, or “Veterans of the Cross,” March 7-9 at the Methodist Retreat Center in Leesburg, Fla.

In his presentation “Can You Hear Me Now?,” Dr. Thomas Zehnder will talk about proclaiming the Gospel to a non-churched culture in the 21st century.

Zehnder formerly served the Synod as interim executive director and executive director of LCMS World Mission (2008-10), president of the Florida-Georgia District (1987-97), missionary to Japan (1961-70) and pastor of congregations in Columbus, Ga.; Stuart, Fla.; and Williamsburg, Va.  He is currently intentional interim pastor for Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale, Ark.

LCMS President Emeritus Dr. Gerald B. Kieschnick will preach at the retreat’s worship service, and David Ludwig Jr. will lead music.

Activities include worship, Bible study, nature walks, games and evening social hours.  The retreat is open to any LCMS rostered church worker who is retired.

Registration costs vary, according to options chosen.

For more information, or to register, contact the district at 877-457-5556, ext. 8, or visit its website at www.flga-lcms.org.
