Call for Nominations: chief executive, National Housing Support Corporation

The LCMS National Housing Support Corporation Board of Directors (LHS Board) is seeking nominations for the position of chief executive.

The chief executive is accountable to the LHS Board of Directors and attends all board meetings, reporting on the progress of the corporation, answers questions of the board and carries out the duties prescribed by the board (Bylaws IV, I). The chief executive administers policy established by the board and develops organizational procedures to ensure compliance. The chief executive is responsible for implementing and evaluating the strategic plan of the corporation; drafting and monitoring the operating budget; and communicating the organization’s philosophy, mission and accomplishments to constituents.

Additionally, the chief executive oversees the development of the funding and the revenue plan, and oversees delivery of all program and technical services, grant applications and administration as well as ensuring compliance with grant agreements and grant reporting. The chief executive supervises, evaluates and provides leadership to the LHS staff. The chief executive forms strategic alliances and partnerships on behalf of the corporation.

Qualified candidates for the position of chief executive shall possess a bachelor’s degree in either business, public administration or a field related to housing and community development (master’s degree or equivalent experience desired) and a minimum of 10 years of senior management experience working with government, municipalities, grant management, housing and community development programs. In addition, demonstrated strength and experience in nonprofit management, banking/finance, real estate, community development, fund development or grant solicitation/administration.

The position requires the ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time; effective interpersonal and diplomacy skills to develop relationships with ecclesiastical leaders, government leaders and multilateral organizations and donors. Nominees must be active, in-good-standing members of the LCMS, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and Lutheran Confessions and supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws and policies.
