KFUO website redesign provides new look

Visitors to the website of KFUO, the Synod’s radio broadcast ministry, will notice that it has changed in appearance during the past year.

“We wanted a fresh, new look that would appeal to our listeners and to make it easier for our visitors to access our extensive radio program archive,” said Mary Schmidt, administrative assistant at the LCMS-owned radio station in St. Louis.

The website was redesigned, Schmidt said, “to provide easier access to information about KFUO’s programs on a daily basis, including information on our hosts, their guests and the topics of discussion as well as providing information on KFUO current events. Listeners can visit our site and listen to live streaming of our programs as well as download any of our archived programs.”

The home page of KFUO’s website at www.kfuo.org provides portals to KFUO-AM (850 on the AM dial) and Classic99.com, which streams classical music online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

On the KFUO-AM website, visitors may listen to the most recent broadcasts of its programs including “Law and Gospel,” “Studio A,” “The Bible Study,” “The Morning Show” and “Wrestling with the Basics,” or they may access archived broadcasts of the same programs, with the exception of “Issues, Etc.,” which archives its broadcasts at http://issuesetc.org/archives/index.html.

The KFUO website also offers free “widgets” that congregations and other entities can embed into their own websites. These widgets provide links for online streaming of three short programs: “Front Porch Parenting,” “By the Way” and “Portals of Prayer.”

Schmidt said feedback on the new look of the website has been “both positive and negative. As with all new sites, our listeners are still getting used to the new look. We have received lots of feedback and have worked to take in all suggestions and advice that would help make our website more user-friendly.”
