The Lutheran High School Association in St. Louis has received a grant of nearly $400,000 from the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis for the purpose of starting a “one to one” technology initiative 
Each student at Lutheran High School North and Lutheran High School South will be provided with a new iPad (released in March 2012) for use in school and at home. The one-to-one learning environment is designed to offer students and teachers continuous access to an array of software, electronic documents, presentations, and Internet and digital learning resources.
“Students of this generation learn and engage in education differently than students of the past,” said Tim Hipenbecker, president of the Lutheran High School Association. “Students today are literally immersed in the digital world. They communicate, collaborate and create things digitally every day. As we meaningfully educate our students to prepare them to be successful Christian leaders and citizens of tomorrow, then technology must become one of their primary tools in the learning process.”
Putting students into this type of learning environment can increase student engagement, improve classroom culture and make it easier to provide for the different needs of each student, according to a statement from the school association.
