Mercy-Post-ThumbnailAfter Typhoon Haiyan devastated parts of the Philippines Nov. 8, 2013, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) pledged up to $100,000 for immediate relief to its partner church, the Lutheran Church in the Philippines, and a $50,000 challenge matching grant to International Lutheran Church member churches. The LCMS committed to helping the partner church body with immediate relief and long-term recovery from the storm, which killed thousands of people and ravaged the country. On Nov. 15, an eight-member LCMS team headed to the island country to get a firsthand account from the field of the needs.
