No LCMS congregations were damaged by four tornadoes that ripped through Oklahoma Sunday, May 19, according to  LCMS Oklahoma District President Rev. Barrie E. Henke. While Henke said he is grateful, he said local congregations near the damaged neighborhoods in Central Oklahoma will reach out and serve however they can to those who were not so fortunate.

At least two people died and about 30 people more were injured by severe storms in Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa. A tornado leveled a mobile home park near Shawnee, which is 35 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.

LCMS Disaster Response officials are in touch with district officials in the affected areas and will continue to determine the LCMS response to the storms.
