Time is drawing short to submit entries to the first “Picture-Your-Pastor” Contest sponsored by Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
The contest — which ends April 1 — asks students in kindergarten through Grade 8 to “let us know what makes their pastor wonderful — in their own drawings and words,” according to a seminary news release. “We’re hoping to get people in congregations thinking about (and praising God for) all the wonderful ways pastors touch their lives.”
The contest is open to children who live in the United States and are “involved in an LCMS congregation.”
Each entry may be completed with crayons, markers, colored pencils or pens and must be submitted on an 8.5-by-11-inch sheet of paper. Students are asked to “write one sentence about what makes your pastor great” and then illustrate their pastor “in action, doing whatever you wrote about.”
Each student should write his or her name and age on the back and mail the entry — along with a completed entry form — to Concordia Seminary, Picture-Your-Pastor Contest, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105.
Winners will be announced sometime around “call day,” May 1, and winning artwork will be published in Concordia Seminary magazine and will be on display at the national LCMS convention, July 20-25 in St. Louis.
Five artists from each grade (a total of 45 students) will be selected for special recognition and prizes, including $25 and $50 gift cards, a personalized wall poster featuring the winning artwork and “just for fun” items from the seminary such as water bottles and keychains.
