Lutherans invited to two life marches

LCMS members are invited to join two marches this month to show their support for the sanctity of life:

  • Green-capped Lutheran March for Life participants gather at the end of the march on Jan. 25, 2013, with the U.S. Capitol in the background. An LCMS group will be taking part in the 2014 march on Jan. 22. (Ed Szeto)
Green-capped Lutheran March for Life participants gather at the end of the march on Jan. 25, 2013, with the U.S. Capitol in the background. An LCMS group also will be taking part in the 2014 march on Jan. 22. (Ed Szeto)

The 2014 National March for Life will be held Jan. 22 in Washington, D.C., marking the 41st anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Va., will host a 9 a.m. worship service that day, and afterward worshipers will proceed to the march as a group. Free lodging is available in the homes of LCMS members — contact Mary Heetland at larheetinc@cox.net for more information.

LCMS members also may want to check with their local city officials for information about possible marches in their own communities.
