“Reflecting God’s Love” is the theme of the 22nd Annual Concordia Conference for Parish Nurse and Congregational Health Ministries, set for May 28-29 at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), Mequon.
The annual conference is designed for parish nurses, pastors and others interested in congregational health.
Keynote speakers and their topics are:
- the Rev. Dr. Dan Paavola, theology professor at CUW, who will address the conference’s “Reflecting God’s Love” theme.
- Dr. Marcia Schnorr, LCMS national coordinator for Parish Nursing and parish nurse/lay minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle, Ill., “Are You in a Network or a Spider Web?”
- the Rev. Paul Klopke, chaplain for Voice of Care, West Chicago, and associate pastor for senior care and special needs at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, Ill., “Reflecting God’s Love through Comfort Dogs: A Bridge for Gospel Proclamation.”
- Brian Becker, senior vice-president of Wheat Ridge Ministries, Itasca, Ill., “Reflecting God’s Love in Health and Healing Ministries.”
Breakout sessions will be offered on 16 topics (participants will have opportunities to attend four each), including “Parish Nursing and Serving the World in Disaster Planning,” “Finding the Rewards in Caregiving,” “Coping with the Holidays,” “End-of-Life Issues through a Lutheran Lens: Honoring Loved Ones as We Honor God,” “After Hospitalization, Then What?” and “How We Learn as We Age.”
Registration for the two-day conference is $85 per day and includes lunches and snacks. Special rates are available for clergy and for two or more from the same ministry.
