District commissioners for National Lutheran School Accreditation chose eight Lutheran schools in the United States for recognition as “exemplary accredited schools” for the 2013-14 academic year during a Feb. 27 conference-call meeting.
- Christ Community Lutheran School, Kirkwood, Mo.;
- Lutheran High School of Orange County, Orange, Calif.;
- Redeemer Lutheran School, Redwood City, Calif.;
- Salem Lutheran School, Tomball, Texas;
- St. Paul’s Early Childhood Development Center, Orange, Calif.;
- St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Orange, Calif.;
- Trinity — Klein Lutheran School, Spring, Texas; and
- Valley Lutheran High School, Saginaw, Mich.
“Being selected as an exemplary school is a high honor resulting from a school’s demonstration of exceeding compliance with NLSA standards and its implementing unique practices that are worthy of replication by others,” said Terry Schmidt, the Synod’s director of Schools and director of NLSA.
“Through sharing the innovative best practices in place at these exemplary schools, we hope to empower others to adopt practices that will be transformational for many of our schools.”
Schmidt added that the leaders of the eight exemplary schools “will now be required to intentionally share their best practices with other Lutheran schools through potential print articles and webinars.
Based in St. Louis, National Lutheran School Accreditation recognizes and encourages schools that offer quality Christian education and continuously improve.
NLSA currently accredits 720 schools in the Synod that have decided to engage in vigorous self-study and evaluation. In the 2013-14 school year, there are 2,255 LCMS preschools, elementary schools and high schools in the United States.
