Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will be hosting a “Faith and Writing” workshop for Christian writers from 9 a.m. July 29 to 3 p.m. July 31.
The workshop will explore different types of creative writing, from starting a blog, to creating a sermon or devotion, to “all the forms of traditional creative writing” such as fiction, nonfiction, drama and poetry. Attention also will be given to social media and other new forms of expression.
“The primary focus will be on what it means to create and communicate as a person of faith,” according to a seminary news release. “What makes for effective communication? How do we cultivate creativity in our lives? What role does faith play in the creative process?”
Participants are encouraged — but not required — to bring their own work, as well as favorite works by others.
The workshop will be led by the Rev. Travis Scholl, managing editor of Concordia Journal, and Peter Mead, a Christian editor, publisher and writer.
Registration is $150; the workshop is limited to 15 participants. On-campus housing is available for $25 per person for a shared room or $40 per married couple or single. Meals are not included.
The registration deadline is July 16.
