LCMS Foundation: Vice-President of Information Technology

The LCMS Foundation, a nonprofit, religious financial-services organization, seeks applicants for the position of vice-president of Information Technology. We exist to support The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, a national church body with 6,100 congregations and 2.1 million members in the United States.

In this position, you’ll be the technology lead for the Foundation’s strategic initiatives to offer best-in-class infrastructure and to increase our effectiveness in using data and analytics in planning and decision-making. You’ll be responsible for the IT budget and handle technology planning, integration and support. Also, you’ll manage the software application development and implementation and the organization’s systems infrastructure and technology environment.

There is a great deal of autonomy in this role to go with the responsibility it carries for making our IT operations secure, efficient and above all, successful in supporting our work.

The right person has a degree and 10 years of related experience in systems development and project management and direct experience in team leadership. More important is your vision for how technology can support the organization’s mission and provide effective business solutions and how customer service plays a role in that effort.

Call for nominations/applicants: KFUO announcer

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod announces an opening for the position of KFUO announcer, housed at the International Center in St. Louis.

Worldwide KFUO is the official broadcast voice of the LCMS. KFUO Radio is the oldest continuously operating Christian radio station in the United States. This ministry of the LCMS is operated for the purpose of providing high-quality, distinctively Lutheran broadcast programs that nurture the Christian faith, support and supplement the witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Worldwide KFUO broadcasts the theological confession of the LCMS via terrestrial radio station KFUO 850 AM and via the continuous live streams on the Internet along with programs that are archived for on-demand and podcast listening.

The announcer position reports to the KFUO director of Programming.

Responsibilities:

  • provide broadcast services as directed by the program director including, but not limited to, program producing, on-air announcing, production, control-board operation, voiceover work and copywriting.
  • serve as talk-program host and program producer of Lutheran broadcast and webcast programs.
  • schedule guests; plan programming topics; and organize, research and direct some of the current Worldwide KFUO radio programs.
  • communicate with the respective hosts and guests of KFUO programs to ensure that program goals and objectives are met.
  • provide phone screens for talk programs.
  • participate in occasional KFUO fundraising events.

Position requirements:

  • active member of an LCMS congregation, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, is preferred; ordained clergy of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, in good standing, is a plus.
  • bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in practical knowledge, with four or more years of experience in the fields of theology, education, journalism, communications or broadcasting is preferred, although not required.
  • creative.
  • able to conduct research on potential program topics and guests.
  • good people skills to interface with hosts, guests, other staff and supporters.
  • the ability to function as part of a team.
  • strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • technical and computer skills, with the ability to comprehend a variety of office- and broadcast-related software, hardware and equipment.

LCEF District VPs

Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF), a Christ-centered servant partner of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, is seeking candidates for the position of LCEF district vice-president in various locations across the United States.

LCEF provides a full range of loan products, investment opportunities and congregational services to more than 6,000 LCMS congregations and organizations.

The critical leadership responsibility of this role is to resource ministries of the LCMS with loans and related support services that assist member congregations, incorporated associations of member congregations and the Synod itself. This includes the colleges and universities of the Concordia University System, LCMS seminaries, Recognized Service Organizations, LCMS districts and district-supported organizations.

The district vice-president assists in the origination of loans for sites and facilities supporting new ministry opportunities, for the renovation and improvement of existing facilities and for the refinancing of capital indebtedness. Other responsibilities of the LCEF district vice-president include raising funds — primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments — by motivating individuals, congregations, businesses and Synod organizations through local marketing campaigns and site visits.

LCEF district vice-presidents serve on districts’ executive staffs, with dual reporting to district presidents and LCEF senior vice-presidents for District and National Operations.

Preferred candidates will be active members of LCMS congregations, demonstrating an effective understanding of church leadership as well as district and Synod governance. A bachelor’s degree and five or more years of professional experience in marketing/sales management, business administration, management or accounting/finance is required.

Must have demonstrated ability, within a team environment, to develop, manage and implement a comprehensive marketing process which will be used to promote and expand LCEF’s reach within district congregations for the growth of LCEF loan products, investment opportunities and ministry-support activities.

Successful candidates will be required to manage congregational visits on an established frequency. Candidates will be proactive leaders with strong partnership and relational abilities, budgeting and managerial skills.
