ST. LOUIS — Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, a prolific source for information on Lutheran Reformation history and theology from the period, is available for interviews regarding the Reformation now through Oct. 31, as the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation approaches.
As the leader of America’s second-largest Lutheran church body numbering more than 2 million people nationwide, he also is available to speak about the Lutheran Reformation’s impact on America and the history of Lutheranism in America.
The Synod also has b-roll footage and photos of historic Reformation sites filmed during a recent visit to the cradle of the Lutheran Reformation – Wittenberg, Germany. Video footage also features Harrison providing historical anecdotes as he helped guide a tour for international Lutheran church leaders there.
He has translated, edited and authored many journal articles, commentaries and books on Lutheran church history, including, “At Home in the House of My Fathers: Presidential Sermons, Essays, Letters, and Addresses from the Missouri Synod’s Great Era of Unity and Growth.” He also edited “The Lonely Way: Selected Essays and Letters,” by Hermann Sasse, a prominent Lutheran theologian in the German ecumenical movement of the early 20th century.
