An LCMS Disaster Response team has been on the ground in Puerto Rico this past week as part of an initial assessment trip. Director of Disaster Response, Rev. Dr. Ross Johnson, has been with LCMS missionary, Rev. Matthew Ruesch, who serves in Puerto Rico.
The team was able to visit members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mayagüez, and offer spiritual care while delivering much needed supplies.
The congregation will serve as the base for ongoing disaster response alongside the LCMS Latin America and Caribbean missionary team.
Pastor Ruesch was able to call in using a satellite phone to talk about conditions on the ground.
