Call for nominations: President, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis

The Rev. Dr. Dale A. Meyer, president of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis (CSL), has announced his intent to retire effective June 30, 2020. Therefore, the CSL Board of Regents, with the approval of the president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), herewith issues a call for the nomination of candidates for the presidency of CSL. Nominations must be filed with the undersigned by Dec. 31, 2019 (Bylaw 3.10.5.6.2(b)).

The duties and responsibilities of the president of the seminary are specified in Bylaw 3.10.5.6 in the LCMS Handbook.

Nominations may be submitted only by congregations of the Synod, the CSL Board of Regents and the CSL faculty (Bylaw 3.10.5.6.2(a)).

A suggested form for nominations is available at csl.edu/president-search. Use of the form is not required, but nominations from congregations must be submitted in writing (including by electronic copy), and must contain, at minimum, the name, city and district of the congregation; the date of the meeting at which the nomination was made; the name(s) and location(s) of the nominee(s); and the signatures and printed names of the pastor and two officers of the nominating congregation.

Nominations must be received no later than Dec. 31, 2019. A list of the nominees who meet the bylaw qualifications for the office and who have consented to let their names stand for election will be submitted for publication in an official periodical of the Synod, and posted on the seminary website, by Jan. 15, 2020.
