The coronavirus has spread to at least 216 countries, areas and territories around the globe. The number of cases in Madagascar is low compared to many countries, but the risks and challenges associated with the pandemic are still present.

The Malagasy Lutheran Church requested and received support from the LCMS to help spread awareness about the COVID-19 virus. The campaign aims at preventing and reducing the spread of the virus by providing people with the information and tools they need to protect themselves. The campaign will focus on pastors and other church workers so that they can better serve those in their care. In addition, the grant money will fund the purchase of tools such as mobile handwashing stations, soap and masks for each district and parish.

As elsewhere, churches in Madagascar closed during the coronavirus shutdown, but the Malagasy Lutheran Church continues to care for her flock and to share the Gospel in this time of hardship.
