48 grants awarded during Phase 2 of the Million Dollar Life Match

The grants support LCMS congregations in providing beginning-of-life care

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 9, 2022 — The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) has awarded 48 grants during Phase 2 of the 1 John 3 Initiative Million Dollar Life Match. The program, which offers a total of $1 million in matching grants, seeks to support LCMS congregations involved in providing beginning-of-life care in their local communities.

The 48 recipients were chosen after a careful review process that included input from staff of the LCMS Office of National Mission, LCMS district presidents or their representatives, and district life coordinators.

“In the Phase 2 applications, there were more projects planned by multiple congregations working together,” said Deaconess Dr. Tiffany Manor, director of LCMS Life Ministry, who is overseeing the grant program. “It is wonderful for sister LCMS congregations to serve their communities by increasing the capacity for mercy work and confessing the faith together.”
