One God, one path — February ‘Witness’

There is only one name by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12): the name of Jesus. Salvation comes exclusively through the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

In an attempt to lead many astray, the devil has told lies about this truth. Many people in the world today would say that Christianity is simply one option among many and that you should “do whatever works for you.” But this easy, broad path is paved with the lies of Satan, the world and our sinful flesh.

The February issue of The Lutheran Witness explores the teachings of various world religions. Readers will discover a short history of each religion, its key teachings and holy texts, and a short explanation of what we, as Lutherans, confess in the face of these erroneous beliefs.

We do not make this confession out of arrogant pride, but sincere love and concern for our fellow man. What sort of love would we be showing if we refused to share with those around us the one and only name by which we — and they — might be saved? Such is not love.
