Panzer elected president of Kansas District

Panzer

The Rev. Justin A. Panzer of Wamego, Kan., was elected to his first full term as president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Kansas District during the district’s 74th convention, held June 9–10 in Topeka, Kan.

Panzer, who had served as the district’s first vice-president since 2012, assumed his first term as president when the Rev. Peter Lange, re-elected as president at the district’s 2018 convention, was elected first vice-president of the Synod in 2019.

Panzer was elected on the first ballot.

Also elected were:

  • Rev. Alan R. Stahlecker of Lincolnville, Kan., as first vice-president;
  • Rev. Dr. Mark Schulz of Overland Park, Kan., as second vice-president;
  • Rev. Michael L. Schotte of Preston, Kan., as third vice-president; and
  • Rev. Michael Hageman of Garden City, Kan., as fourth vice-president.

The officers were installed at the convention.

Under the convention theme “Proclaim, Teach, Share,” based on 1 Peter 2:9–10, delegates adopted resolutions to:

  • Prioritize “Living as the Baptized” as its emphasis for the 2022–2025 triennium, focusing on strengthening baptismal identity and equipping the baptized to stand firm in the faith;
  • Continue to support theological education and other mission outreach in West and Central Africa, including Guinea, while giving thanks for the many blessings in the region during the 25-year mission partnership; and
  • Encourage congregations to care for their church workers through church worker care teams or other appropriate boards or individuals.
