The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s (LCMS) Office of National Mission (ONM) offers national development grants to aid LCMS congregations, Recognized Service Organizations and districts to make known the love of Christ in word and deed within their churches and communities.
National development grants are awarded on an annual basis. For this year’s cycle, applications will be accepted until Feb. 1, with awards announced in June. The ONM encourages innovative proposals that others can use to advance the domestic mission work of the LCMS. Deaconess Maryann Hayter, LCMS manager of grants administration, said, “Projects that contain a reproducible core that can be shared across the Synod are ideal. Applicants are encouraged to include how their project can be adapted by other congregations, RSOs or districts to make the love of Christ know in their own communities.”
The national development grant process includes three steps: planning, applying for and reporting on the grant. Detailed instructions for each phase of the process are outlined at the grant webpage.
The national development grant program is supplemented by funds from the Wiebe Mission Advancement Fund. Under the custodianship of the LCMS Foundation, the gift of John and Harriet Wiebe continues to have an immediate impact in the kingdom of God, even years after the Lord called them home. The LCMS gives thanks for the Wiebes and for their example of generosity, foresight and love for the Lord.
