On Jan. 19, during daily chapel at The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) International Center in St. Louis, Amy Klein was installed as a financial wellness educator for Concordia Plan Services (CPS). As a member of the CPS Worker Wellness team, Klein will provide financial education and assistance to LCMS church workers.
“Our team leads workshops, hosts monthly webinars, provides sessions at conferences, and meets one-on-one with individuals on topics like pre-retirement planning, budgeting, debt management strategies and basic personal finance,” Klein said. “When workers are financially healthy, they are in a better position to serve in their ministries and share the Gospel.”
Prior to joining CPS, Klein taught business and personal finance in Lutheran high schools in Westland, Mich., and St. James, N.Y. Most recently, she served as a business teacher and chair of the Practical Arts Department at Lutheran High School of St. Charles County in St. Peters, Mo.
Klein graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, Wis., where she received a Lutheran teacher diploma and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She earned a master’s in business education from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.
Of her first few weeks in her new role, Klein said, “It is so interesting to learn about all the things happening here that support our LCMS ministries and promote sharing the Gospel. As a former Lutheran teacher, I was aware of the benefits that Concordia Plans provides, but I am learning so much more about how valuable those benefits are and how dedicated the LCMS is to caring for its workers.
“I am looking forward to meeting with individuals, visiting ministries and seeing all of the amazing ways that God is working in our churches, schools and other LCMS organizations.”
Worker Wellness Director Steve Gruenwald said, “We are excited to welcome Amy to our Worker Wellness team at Concordia Plans. We know she is going to be a blessing to our church workers as she shares her gifts and helps them to be financially well.”
Klein and her husband, Clayton, are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olivette, Mo., and have one son, Steven.
