A new look for ‘Reporter’

If you think Reporter looks different …

You are right! The staff of LCMS Communications is excited to unveil a new Reporter masthead — both in print and online — in conjunction with the upcoming 50th anniversary of Reporter.

That’s right — Reporter is almost 50 years old! The first issue was published in October 1975, which means that October 2024 kicks off Reporter’s 50th year of serving the churches and workers of the LCMS as the Synod’s official newspaper.

To celebrate, for all of 2024 we will be sharing some Reporter history each month — bits and pieces of the past that we hope you will find interesting, entertaining and even inspiring. We invite you, our readers, to send any of your own Reporter memories to Cheryl Magness, managing editor, at cheryl.magness@lcms.org.

To start things off, here is the announcement about the new Synod publication that was printed in Vol. 1, No. 1, of Reporter on Oct. 6, 1975:

REPORTER comes to you because you are a leader in your congregation or church body. This new Missouri Synod publication will equip you with timely, authoritative information about our Synod and its work.

Fifty years later, the goal remains the same. Happy (almost) birthday, Reporter!
