Positions
Concordia University, Seward, Neb., seeks nominations and applications for the following positions, possibly beginning Aug. 1, 2004.
Faculty position in mathematics or mathematics education: specific instructional responsibilities will depend upon the applicant’s background and areas of expertise. The position requires participation in the recruitment, advisement and mentoring of mathematics majors. Qualifications include a doctorate in mathematics or mathematics education.
Faculty position in chemistry: primary instructional responsibilities in the areas of organic and physical chemistry and secondary instructional responsibilities in the areas of analytical chemistry, advanced inorganic chemistry, and/or biochemistry laboratory procedures. The position also includes serving as the chemical hygiene officer for the Natural Sciences department and requires that the candidate have experience in overall management of chemistry laboratories in accordance with chemical safety practices and standards. The position also requires participation in the recruitment and advisement of chemistry majors and the use of an array of technologies in courses and laboratories. A Ph.D. in chemistry is desired; however, a master’s degree in chemistry with a willingness to pursue a doctorate may be acceptable.
Faculty position in biology: primary responsibilities in the areas of microbiology, embryology and gross anatomy, and secondary responsibilities in the areas of anatomy, physiology, general biology and histology. The position requires participation in the recruitment and advisement of biology majors and the use of an array of technologies in courses and laboratories. A Ph.D. in biology is desired; however, a master’s degree in biology with a willingness to pursue a doctorate may be acceptable.
Faculty position in theology: includes teaching courses in Christian doctrine, philosophy, comparative religions and Biblical studies. Student advising required. The candidate must be an ordained minister, having an earned doctorate. ABD candidates will be considered.
Faculty position in theology: serves as director of the Christian pre-counseling program. Teaching responsibilities include courses in Christian doctrine, family-life ministry, Christian ethics, and psychology. Needs to be dual-trained in theology and counseling. The candidate may be an ordained minister, having an earned doctorate. ABD candidates will be considered.
Faculty position in education, director of field experiences: responsible for placement of teacher education students into field experiences, practicums, and initial student teaching. The director works with local and area Lutheran, parochial, and public school teachers and administrators in identifying sites and exercising overall supervision of experiences. Some teaching in education foundations or methods will be required. A doctorate in an appropriate area of education is preferred, but a master’s may be acceptable.
Faculty position in education: provide instruction in the College of Education in the areas of education foundations, psychology, and/or methods. Specific assignments will be aligned with faculty needs and applicant qualifications. A doctorate in an appropriate area of education is preferred, but a master’s may be acceptable.
Information services librarian: develops and promotes reference services, bibliographic instruction, and supervises the circulation department. A master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program is required. Two years of experience in an academic library desired.
