Concordia University, River Forest, Ill., seeks to fill two positions:

  • assistant/associate professor of education. This tenure-track, full-time position will support the work of the Department of Leadership in the College of Education.  In addition to teaching graduate students in the master’s and doctoral programs, the professor will have responsibility for advising master’s degree candidates, serving on doctoral committees, conducting primary research initiatives and providing service to the professional community.  The candidate may be considered for the position of chairperson of the Department of Leadership.

    Qualifications include a terminal degree, experience beyond the school building in a leadership role, willingness to conduct academic research and professional service and a commitment to Lutheran education and values congruent with the Lutheran church.  Experience as a superintendent of schools, university teaching experience and a terminal degree with a concentration in educational leadership is optimal.

This entrepreneurial leader provides a variety of educational opportunities for degree- and non-degree-seeking students and houses seminars, workshops, conferences, convocations, in-services and non-traditional degree programs.  The dean must possess strong interpersonal skills, work effectively with various constituencies of the university, be sensitive to the learning needs of adult students and responsive to the educational marketplace.

    The successful candidate has an earned doctorate, administrative experience in the higher-education environment and experience with alter-native instructional delivery systems.  The ability to identify and secure external funding is desired.  The university seeks an individual who is supportive of the mission of Lutheran Christian higher education.
